ABOUT GREENLIFT
Our Story
In 2023, Vanessa and her team founded GreenLift, LLC with a clear and ambitious mission: "to drive environmental and social transformation by integrating sustainable practices with second chance employment opportunities." GreenLift continues the vital work of restoring the Chesapeake Bay initially starting as the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Initiative for Maryland Reentry Resource Center, while expanding its reach to other environmental projects and initiatives, striving to make a broader impact on both the environment and society.
Built on the core principles of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and community empowerment, GreenLift offers more than just jobs. By hiring returning citizens, the organization provides pathways to careers, stability, and personal growth. This holistic approach ensures that employees are supported in their journey to reintegrate into society while making meaningful contributions to the greater good.
GreenLift's projects include bioretention, planting trees, and removing invasive species, best management practices to reduce runoff. Each initiative is designed to have a lasting positive impact on the environment and the community. The organization's innovative model has gained recognition and support from local governments, businesses, and environmental groups, enabling GreenLift to scale its efforts and achieve significant strides in its mission. The success stories of individuals who have found purpose and stability through their work at GreenLift are a testament to the power of second chance employment and environmental stewardship.
Today, GreenLift stands as a beacon of hope and progress, demonstrating that with vision, dedication, and a commitment to sustainability and social justice, it is possible to create a brighter, cleaner, and more equitable future.
